From Library to Learning Commons…

Welcome to the Wellington Secondary Learning Commons!

We all know what a library is, but what about a Learning Commons? “Learning Commons” is a term that more accurately represents the dynamic nature of modern school libraries. More than just a place to study and check out books, our Learning Commons acts a school learning hub where we learn, work and collaborate together in a innovative and welcoming environment.

The Learning Commons provides:

  • Digital and print learning resources that support the curriculum.

  • Access to Online Databases and Encyclopedias.

  • A large selection of Fiction and Non-Fiction print, electronic, and audio books for student’s and staff’s reading enjoyment.

  • Teacher Librarian (Ms. Stewart), can help students with finding resources and books, online research assistance, homework help, reference and citation resources, digital literacy skills, password management and much more!

  • A physical space for whole classes, small groups, and individual students to work and learn.

  • Chromebook computers for short term loans, computer lab, printing, and other technologies for students and staff.

  • Reading contests and special events.

  • A relaxing place for study.

  • A safe and inclusive space for all.
